so good luck and happy hunting - if you so choose to 'go for it' 😉įinally, I'd like to suggest checking out Methodology to protect your data.

But it's your time, your machine, and your money. Nowadays, with solid state drives, hybrid drives, & whatever combo therof - who knows what's gonna happen when one chooses to push the envelope. I finally dumped it as I did some research and discovered that running ClamXav & other virus checkers, are an excellent choice if you wish to give the read/write heads on a typical hardrive a major thrashing. I kept it updated for months and it never found anything else. Sure, it found a few Phishing files for me too on the initial run, which I allowed Clam to isolate and then trash, if I am not mistaken. In other words it takes care of the problem doing what you tell it to do. So, you may be getting false positives besides whatever ClamXav detects, it asks you if you wish to quarantine and/or delete the files, no? That was my experience with it. I highly doubt it, however, as the App Store version typically follows the latest version submitted by the developer (which currently happens to support only up to Mavericks). Yes, I know that the App Store says it works w/version 10.6+. Clam Xav version 2.6.4 is "Compatible with Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 and OS X 10.9 Mavericks" according to their website.
